First impressions are very important and should start when you call to make an appointment. The staff staff should be upbeat, helpful and friendly. No one likes to be left on hold for too long. The main thing is they should listen to you and be able to answer all of your

Although it may not seem important to some,  most women will confess that finding the right hair stylist is much more of a priority to them in their everyday life than finding the right physician. Finding the right hair salon is quite essential to most women and men, for that matter. If you make a mistake and chose the wrong salon,  you will regret it.  Although it can be hard, there are ways to tell whether a salon is the right fit for you. If you ever wondered how to pick the best salon for you, here are a few tips.

  • Decide which type of salon you would like to visit. So, for example, if you are female, whether you would like to visit a high fashion salon, or somewhere that will get you in and out for cheap. If you are male, if you would like to visit a barbershop or unisex cosmetology salon. Google search the top salons in your area and do your research. Read the reviews and look at their website. Great salons have great websites.
  • Call the Salon with and inquiry. The member of staff answering should answer with ‘good morning/afternoon’, mention the name of the salon, and ask how they can help you. They should be professional, not use slang words, be friendly, and pleasant. But most of all, they should be polite and be able to answer your questions.
  • Take a look at the presentation of the decor.  The whole place should be modern looking, clean and tidy. As soon as you walk in, there should be staff at the reception desk with a friendly greeting. Does the salon look like it has an overall style? If the answer is yes, then you are in the right place.
  • Take a look at the staff. The staff should be respectful and educated in their craft. This counts for general style which includes overall fashion sense and personality. They should meet your standards of style and professionalism. They should be friendly and easy to talk to. You will be telling them some of your most personal opinions of yourself so you should feel very comfortable talking with them.
  • Take a quick look at the prices and products. All salons should use professional products only,  and the more expensive, the better. This goes for the prices of cut, color, (etc.) too. Make sure the price fits your budget but keep in mind, you get what you pay for and if it seems too good to be true it usually is.
  • And finally, take a look at the quality of other people’s hair and hair styles. Study the quality of customer’s hair. As soon as they walk out of the salon. Don’t judge it when its gone a day or two,  not all customers have the ability to keep their hair looking good. It all depends on what products they use to maintain the look, how long between visits especially for color. Most of all, make sure that the hair that the salon produces matches your needs and overall desires.

Whatever salon you choose, you should always try to help them do a good job for you and don’t judge them unfairly. Try not to be late so they have to rush. You may not like a rushed visit. Be as clear as you can be about what you are looking for and bring pictures. Pictures speak a thousand words.
Have realistic expectations and know the limitations of your hair. A good salon will have a good stylist that will steer you away from something that will not work on you and towards something that will make you look and feel your best.
